The Phillie Phactor?

So the election has past, we have our new President Elect barack Obama - does anyone feel that this election was eerily similar to that of 1980 when Reagan beat the incumbent Jimmy Carter?

Stay with me here - this will get baseball related.

1980 - during the spring and summer unemployment was high, inflation was running up, and there was a gasoline crisis

- The president's approval rating was approximately 30%

- The republicans were able to take control of the Senate and made up over seats in the House, but did not get control.

All of this signaled a major shift in the country's balance of power from Democratic to Republican.

So here in 2008's election we have

- While gas prices have dropped, no one can say that the price of oil has not been a major issue in America, unemployment is going up, and once again, our economy is struggling.

- Our current President's approval rating has been sitting between 25-30%

- The Democrat's have taken control of both the House and Senate, signaling a major tide change in our government, being all Democrate lead.

So now what does this have to do with baseball? I only happen to recall 2 Wolrd Series Championships for the Philadelphi Phillies - 1980 and 2008.

Is a Philadelphia World Series ring now a harbinger for major political change? If so, thank you Cole Hamels - and as a Mets fan I cannot believe I am saying this, but where were you in 2004?

And just for the record, his hot wife by means of google image search

Hey is that your Hamels jersey card? If it is I'd be interested in a trade.
